About me

I am currently an Assistant Professor in the school of Philosophy, History, and Religion at Oregon State University (OSU). At OSU, I am part of the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx).

My research interests include the ethics of technology, data ethics, epistemology, and feminist philosophy. I’m particularly interested in the value of privacy. My research explores issues like: the use of facial recognition in education; how questions can violate privacy.

Prior to OSU, I was a postdoctoral fellow at Georgetown University’s Ethics Lab, on an interdisciplinary team of designers and philosophers. There I worked on projects like, the Mozilla Responsible Computer Science challenge to develop innovative pedagogy to embed ethics-centered curriculum into computer science classes. With the help of designers, we developed problem based learning exercises to bring ethical problems in complicated socio-technical systems to life.

I have a PhD in Philosophy from Cornell University and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Michigan.
